Pakistan voices commitment to combating terror following deadly attack in southeast Iran
TEHRAN- Pakistan’s foreign minister sternly condemned the recent terrorist attack on Rask police headquarters in southeast Iran, saying that Islamabad has a strong commitment to close cooperation with Tehran in combatting terrorism as a collective challenge for peace and security in the region.
In a phone conversation on Monday with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Jalil Abbas Jilani decried the attack by a terrorist group on the Iranian police forces in Rask.
Jilani underscored Pakistan’s firm commitment to close cooperation with Iran in dealing with the threat of terrorism, which is a collective challenge for peace and security in the region.
The foreign ministers of the two countries emphasized the mutual commitment to further strengthening the fraternal relations between Iran and Pakistan, which are rooted in history and culture, and agreed to increase the exchange of high-level meetings.
During the phone call, Jilani also expressed Pakistan’s deep concern about the dire situation in occupied Palestine, especially Gaza.
He underlined the urgency of establishing a ceasefire, lifting the blockade of Gaza, providing uninterrupted humanitarian aid including medical equipment to the people of Gaza, and resuming diplomatic efforts for sustainable peace in West Asia based on a just solution to the Palestinian question.
Amir Abdullahian and Jilani also discussed other important bilateral issues and the situation in the region.
The terrorist assault on the police outpost in southeast Iran on Friday resulted in the brutal murder of 11 police forces, with at least six others wounded.
The attack unfolded at around 2 AM local time in Rask County, located in the southern part of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, as reported by Iranian media. The Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
